The use of cosmetics on the HCG Diet program is a continuous back and forth battle. It all started with the original HCG Diet Protocol [insert link] written by Dr. ATW Simeons [insert link] back in the 1950's. His treatments for obesity with HCG injections did NOT allow the use of cosmetics (which include anything applied to the skin, lotions, soaps, make-up, shampoos and conditioners, styling products and perfumes) during the protocol and here is why:

When doing an experiment as this was in the beginning, you would want to limit the variables, outside influence that could affect the consistency of results. Just like with the food list that used to consist of only a short few vegetables, the point was to remove the variables and keep it small and precise without mixing. Because the body absorbs anything applied to the skin into the bloodstream and it is recognized by the metabolic response, it is important to limit this potential hinderance.

If cosmetics contain oils or chemicals that have been known to negatively effect the results of the HCG in the body (for the reasons why this is the case, click here), then just as eating these substances would affect the diet, applying them to the skin to be absorbed would do the same. For the sake of consistency of the experiment and later continued into treatments, it was best to remove these cosmetics from allowance during the HCG Diet.

Since the 1950's we have increased the knowledge we have about the human body and systems by hundreds of times. We have new tips and tricks to rid the body of unwanted toxins, things to do when we completely blow it and eat something we are not supposed to and how to rehydrate and replenish the nutrients we need in rapid time. So, is it necessary to stay away from cosmetics during the HCG Diet?

My opinion based on the results and study of thousands of Vibrant Life HCG dieters and huge successes is to be conscious of your body and who you are. If you are someone who is going to just do the bare minimum and get through the diet, I say stay away from cosmetics that are oil-based. This does mean that you can use non-oil based products that will not hinder the results of your HCG Diet. If you are someone who is very "aware" of your body and mind and will pay attention to the results that you get, willing to closely monitor if one thing or another is throwing off your results, then continue to use what you already do. Know what your personality is and play that card. This is the easiest diet on earth if you just follow the rules and stick it out and you know it because you see the 100's of 1000's of people who have changed their lives with the use of HCG drops. Allow yourself to be another.

Read the labels of the cosmetics you use and do your best to use some that do not include oils in their ingredients. If you are on a medicinal product prescribed by your doctor, please make sure to check with him/her prior to changing the use of that particular product.
