There is a huge misnomer out there that is due to old, old information about how the use of the HCG diet and exercise are not a good combination. As always, I am here to clear that myth, de bunk the naysayers and explain the truth of this bad information from the past.

The thought behind not exercising while using HCG is that it is not good to dramatically decrease your caloric intake at the same time that you increase your caloric demand. Though, here is a question for you to ponder while you continue reading; "isn't weight loss about calories in versus the calories out?" This is a very general statement and I am purposely not counting where those calories come from as an important factor. If that is the case then wouldn't you want to decrease your calories to create a deficit in order to lose weight?

Back to the HCG and exercise explanation; I have found through literally 1000's of trials with my own clients and myself that exercising while on the HCG Drops is just fine as long as it is not high intensity, as long as it is not something new that you are adopting into your life right at the beginning of the use of your HCG drops and as long as you are not increasing your activity level above what your body is used to currently. These rules are very specific and need to be followed accurately or you will see a decrease in your results and the next section explains why.

Most of us live lives that are on the go, intense, stressful and pretty fast paced, wouldn't you agree? Those stresses and pace of life causes as biochemical response in your body, think about it for a second. When you feel stressed, don't you actually feel it in your gut? You feel it in your nerves? And in your head? The intensity of everyday life literally causes your endocrine system to release hormones into the body and when the body actually feels stressed or there is the presence of negative hormones/chemicals, your digestive system slows down, nearly to a halt. Your lymphatic drainage slows nearly to a halt. The efficiency of the bodily functions slow down and most importantly, your breathing shortens which decreases your oxygen intake by nearly 60% (which is terrible considering that the average American is 40% oxygen deprived because we only breathe from our upper chest, while sucking in our stomachs out of vanity and not allowing the body to get the oxygen necessary for true health).

What does doing intense exercise do to the body on top of all the stress? It creates more stress and the release of lactic acid. While I am not saying exercise is bad, please note that I am a huge advocate of exercise and fitness, I simply believe in using it accurately with the needs of your body and lifestyle and understanding the delicate balance your body is asking for. If anyone knows me, you will note that I am not a fan of over acidity in the body and all of the imbalances that it causes. When the body produces this acidity, as a protective mechanism, the body will use alkaline reserves and as much water as necessary (remember that nearly 70% of the American population is chronically dehydrated) to neutralize all of the acidity and protect the vital organs and arteries. When it doesn't have enough alkaline reserves or becomes dehydrated, the body pulls proteins and eventually stores the acid in your fats as protection. As this point, exercise intensely will actually cause you to hold onto body fat. Nice huh? I know it pisses me off too!

What is the answer, I'm sure you are wondering? Listen to your body's needs and alkalize your system. Here is a great start for you, the HCG Diet is full of alkaline foods, low/no sugars or starches (which is acid) and you are required to drink a ton of water. What does all of this result to? An alkaline body, a more efficient release of body fat and therefore more healthy weight loss without crazy cravings. Then what about exercise? Do something that promotes oxygenation in the body, increases your blood flow, supports digestion and increases your lymphatic drainage all while decreasing the stress on your body. How about some Yoga? Something that has been used for all health purposes for over 5000 years.

HCG and exercise do go hand-in-hand as long as you are doing things that actually benefit the overall health of your body. There you have it...breathe, decrease your stress and it will increase your weight loss results.
